The Giallorossi sporting director has stressed that after buying a defender from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858, the club’s shopping activity will largely focus on improving their midfield.
Walter Sabatini has revealed AS Roma’s transfer plans and targets for the summer transfer window, and has stated that their aim is to reach the UEFA Champions League while sustaining a strong team in the next season.
The Giallorossi have been recently linked with a number of players in the market, and the sporting director took some time to separate the rumours from the truths.
Sabatini confirmed that negotiations regarding the acquisition of centre-back Leandro Castan from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Corinthians-c38855 are in the final stages, and insisted that the midfield is the next focus for him.
The Lupi transfer chief admitted his interest in Michael Bradley, and quickly sidelined all notions suggesting that the capture could be a marketing ploy.
The Giallorossi chief was all praise for the Chievo-man, and insisted that signing the player will be a matter of great value for him.
While talking to the press, the 57-year-old said:
“Work for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Bradley-c25275 of Chievo is well underway and I want to make it clear that his capture is not a marketing ploy. Bradley is a pragmatic player, one sure of himself, who knows how to play and knows how to win. I will be
honoured if we complete his signing.”
AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 have also been closely linked with a move for Panagiotis Tachtsidis, the midfielder whose performances of last season on loan to Verona displayed a lot of promise.
Sabatini admitted that the club is closely following the Genoa-owned playmaker, and revealed that the player was specially requested by the new coach Zdenek Zeman.
The Giallorossi transfer director stated that the former Pescara tactician will be looking to use Tachtsidis in a more attacking role.
“Tachtsidis was a request from Coach Zdenek Zeman and I trust him. He told me that he wants to turn the player into a champion. He can pass the ball, he has a good left-foot and Zeman wants to transform him into a quicker player.”
AS Roma had a troubling last season under the leadership of Luis Enrique, and the club’s recent efforts are motivated by their desire to move back to the top of Serie A, and regain a participation spot in UEFA Champions League.
