A.S Roma Sporting Director, Walter Sabatini, believes that new signing, Erik Lamela, can follow in the footsteps of Palermo playmaker, Javier Pastore, to make his mark in the Italian football.
Lamela recently completed his move from Argentine side, River Plate, for an approximately 10-million-pounds deal. Roma were heavily linked with a move for Pastore in the transfer window but they were out-priced for his signature.
Sabatini insists that Giallorossi will not pay over the odds for any player and he believes that the talented youngster can become their own Pastore.
Pastore joined Palermo in 2009 and quickly established himself as one of the best attacking midfielders in the modern game. The Argentine international had an amazing 2010/11 season and scored 14 goals in 41 games in all competitions.
Sabatini has high hopes of Lamela and believes that he will be a major player for the club in the upcoming season.

left the Stadio Olimpico Rome in 2009. The Buenos Aires born star’s versatility of playing in different attacking positions will also help his team, as he can also operate on the wings.
