Walter Trusendi swallows Pavol Cervenak in first round – Tennislife Cup 2011 CH
Local qualifier Walter Trusendi gunned down Slovak Pavol Cervenak with a bagel at the Tennislife Cup 2011, an ATP Challenger Tour event held at Greenpark Posillipo in Napoli, Italy. He formulated a 6-0, 6-3 score line against the
Bratislava native, Cervenak in front of his home crow to advance into the second round on Tuesday.
Ranked 330th in the South African Airways ATP World Tour rankings, Trusendi stomped over the Slovak, ranked 112 spots above him, in one hour and sixteen minutes. Meeting for the first time at this ATP Challenger tour
event, the high flying Italian confidently advanced into the pre-quarter round and set his course right for the €42,500 prize money.
26-year-old Trusendi went berserk at the start of the match as he bombarded powerful groundstrokes to reel off first six games in a row and quickly earned a bagel. He rapidly bagged in entire serves without facing any breakpoint
and capitalised on half of the six breakpoint opportunities to his advantage to win easily. In addition to this, he clobbered an amazing first serve share of 90 percent as compared to Slovak’s 65 percent and registered 78 percent win on it.
He kept momentum flying into the final set and hastily pocketed entire serves without facing any hurdle. The Italian converted one out of three breakpoint opportunities to his advantage in the sixth game to clinch the set with
a 6-3 score line. He put the cherry on the set by clobbering an incredible first serve share of 100 percent as opposed to Slovak’s 53 percent and registered a magnificent 74 percent win on it.
The qualifier will next face the German, Andreas Beck who trashed Argentinean lucky loser Diego Sebastian Schwartzman in straight sets to set-up this clash.
Another qualifier, Boris Pashanski of Serbia bounced back to register a three setter success over the Dutch Thomas Schoorel.
World number 121, Schoorel made quick in-roads as he quickly plucked in entire serves without facing any breakpoint. He then converted two out of three breakpoint opportunities to his advantage to win the set with a 6-3 score line.
World number 301, Pashanski on the other hand got back in action in the second set. He saved both breakpoints faced and capitalised on one out of seven breakpoint chances to his advantage to seal the equaliser with a 6-4 win.
The Serbian unleashed his true form in the decider as he bombarded massive forehands to reel off first four games in a row. Schoorel on the side got injured after this and when he could bear any more pain, he retired from the match.
