Wan Yi Tang moves into main round of 2013 SCG Thailand Open – Badminton news
Chinese Taipei’s Wan Yi Tang played impeccable badminton in the qualifying round of SCG Thailand Open and got access to main round of Women’s Singles event on June 4, 2013.
She overpowered Hemrachatanun Mattana of Thailand in her last encounter which prolonged to 46 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 21-17, 15-21 and 21-19.
Wan Yi served notice of her supremacy in the opening and ending segments of the showdown whereas the native shuttler could rise only in the second set.
The Taipei campaigner started the beating immediately in the beginning of first set and played with this authoritative approach until the last stroke. She did not give her rival even a single chance to come back and placed an overwhelming score of 11 before
the interval.
After the one-minute break, Wan Yi lost grip for a short span of time and this careless approach allowed the opposing shuttler to proceed on the points table. However, she did not take much time to come out of that bad patch and wrapped this segment of the
showdown with 21-17 score.
The following game changed the scenario as this time it was Hemrachatanun’s turn to rule the court. The Thai campaigner played with great conviction and counterbalanced the situation immediately after the first set loss.
She showed her intentions by grabbing many points in a row and then doubled the pressure with a staggering knock just before the half time. She was in commanding position with a decent lead when few back-to-back mistakes put her stakes in danger.
However, she did not lose nerves and managed to tip the scale in her favour when it was needed the most. She placed a winning figure of 21-15 and marched into the third set of match.
The decider remained a dead contest in the beginning but then both contenders brought life back into contest with an electrifying performance. They pushed each other in all areas of the court and gained a great deal of admiration.
Finally, this cliff-hanging tussle ended when Wan Yi placed a concluding margin of 21-19 and setup her next clash with Aiying Xing.
