  1. These days most bows out on the market won't steer you wrong. I shoot Mathew much like many other hunters but I'm not going to tell you to go out and by one just from me using one. The real key to finding the right bow for you is by just going out and finding the right bow for you. Your going to have to try brands out and just simply see what you like and what you feel most comfortable with. Good Luck to you and I'm glad to hear your getting back into the addiction. Have Fun!

  2. A good mid range compound bow is the Browning F5 Tornado Bow ($350) - great for tight hunting situations, has the Ignitor 6 HP cam system, a precision machined aluminum riser, 450 Plus cables and Dynaflite 97 string. it is "forgiving to shoot" and the ergonomic grip make it comfortable to shoot /hold. The 6" of draw length adjustment is great for growing archers. The Reflex Excursion Compound Bow ($379) is offered by Reflex archery. it has lightweight magnesium TEC riser design, the new and improved cam system, and the accurate shooting. The PSE Firestorm Lite Bow with Arrows ($429) is another top rated compound bow from the well respected PSE Archery manufacturer. The Firestorm from PSE has a short axle to axle design which makes it another excellent choice for tight quarters. You also get the NRG Hybrid Performance Cams and you can launch arrows up to 300 fps (feet per second). Martin Archery has been producing fine bows for years and we really like the Martin Archery Jaguar Mossy Dyna ($349.99) - a lightweight, perfectly balanced bow that features the Dyna Single Cam system for great shot accuracy and consistency. . Lastly, the Fred Bear Instinct Bow for under $400 is worth mentioning.

  3. The bow I shoot is a Parker Legend. I've been bow hunting over 20 years and have shot many powerful bows but I like this one best for hunting for several reasons.

It has a pretty forgiving brace Height just over 8"

It has an EZ Draw cam that make drawing the bow on colder mornings or when excitement hits much easier as well as if you need to let the draw down when you decide not to shoot or can not get a shot.

The Bow is extremly quiet and features parallal limbs making the vibrations go up and down instead of forward making for a very smooth bow to hunt. The set up on mine is shooting about 250 feet per second at 70lbs , with a 29" draw. It produces plenty of kenitic energy to take down up to elk size animals. I primaraly shoot white tail deer.

For whitetails 40lbs of kenitic energy is minimum in my opinion. For an intermeadiate bow I think the Parker Legend is an excellent choice and is very light weight as well. But shoot several bows in its same class and go with the one that you feel most comfortable shooting.

    Hope this helps.
