Wang Hao and Chen Ruolin excel in Women’s 10m Platform Synchronised Diving: 2011 World Championships
Wang Hao and Chen Ruolin of China dominated proceedings with their performances in the Women’s 10m Platform Synchronised Diving heats on the third day of the 2011 World Diving Championships in Shanghai, on Monday, July 18.
With their dominance in the Women’s 10m Platform discipline, Chinese divers continued their supremacy in diving events as they have already captured the titles of Women’s 3m Springboard Synchronised and Men’s 10m Synchronised Platform diving on the initial
days of the championship.
Hao and Ruolin accumulated an impressive score of 335.34 points to capture the top qualification seat of the 10m Platform event. They were followed by Australian duo of Alexandra Croak and Melissa Wu, who qualified as the second best pair, by earning a score
of 303.66 points. The Australian pair stayed 11.10 points ahead from their following pair, Christin Steuer and Nora Subschinski of Germany, who captured a total of 292.56 points.
For the fourth qualification spot, the arena witnessed an immense competition among the divers of Great Britain and Canada. Great Britain’s duo of Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow maintained a lead of almost one point over the Canadian pair and earned a score
of 290.28 points for the fourth position. Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion of Canada settled on the points table as the fifth best qualifying pair, by scoring 289.65 points.
They were followed by Mun Yee Leong and Rinong Pandelela of Malaysia, who stayed only 0.15 points behind them and qualified as the sixth best pair with a score of 289.50 points. In the meantime, Ukrainian pair of Potyekhina Viktoriya and Prokopchuk Yulia
was announced as the seventh best team, as they scored 283.62 points. Kum h*i Choe and Jin Ok Kim were the last duo to enter the final, as they stayed almost 10 points behind the seventh qualifiers and managed a total of 273.06 points.
The session concluded after the notable efforts of all participants, while the divers will be competing with each other in the final rounds of the meet to secure a podium finish.
