Wang Hao and Chen Ruolin win Women’s 10m Platform Synchronised meet: 2011 World Diving Championships
Chinese duo of Chen Ruolin and Wang Hao ruled the final of the 10m Platform Synchronised Diving in the Women’s category, by conquering the gold medal of the event on day three of the diving events at the 2011 World Championships. The event is being staged
in Shanghai, China.
Ruolin and Hao clinched the title of the event with an impressive presentation of 362.58 points in the final round. The Chinese pair, who captured the top qualification spot in the preliminary rounds with a score of 335.34 points, made their country proud
by adding another victory to their medal rostrum.
Australian duo of Melissa Wu and Alexandra Croak followed them on the podium for the silver medal, with a score of 325.92 points. The Australian team were only 9.63 points ahead of their closest competitor, Christin Steuer and Nora Subschinski of Germany,
who occupied the podium for the bronze medal, with a fantastic score of 316.29 points.
Moments later, the duo of Great Britain’s Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow claimed the fourth best spot of the discipline, as they stayed almost two points behind the German team and earned 314.52 points. They were followed by Ukrainian pair of Viktoriya Potyekhina
and Yulia Prokopchuk, who failed to occupy the fourth best spot of the event with a difference of only 2.88 points. The Ukrainian duo was ranked fifth on the overall points table, as they scored 311.64 points.
Malaysian pair of Leong Mun Yee and Pandelela Rinong was named as the sixth best finishers of the synchronised event, as they achieved 305.34 points. Canada’s Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion stayed nearly two points behind the sixth position holders
and earned the seventh position, with a timing of 303.87 points. The last position was secured by Paola Espinosa and Tatiana Ortiz of Mexico, who scored 298.80 points.
The victory of the Chinese duo contributed another gold medal to their country, while the winners were awarded with medals for their stupendous performances after the completion of the session.
