Wang Junyao and Qu Jingyu secure gold medals: Day three – Chinese Long Course Nationals
Wang Junyao and Qu Jingyu of China earned gold medals of Women’s 50m freestyle and Men’s 50m breast-stroke respectively, on day three of the 2011 Chinese Long Course Nationals. The session ended on Saturday, September 24, in Rizhao, China.
With the exception of above stated events, the session also included Men’s 100m freestyle and Women’s 4*100m freestyle relay.
Junyao remained dominant for the gold medal in the single-lap freestyle swim. She submitted a fastest time of 25.62 seconds for gold medal. The champion remained 0.09 seconds ahead of her closest swimmer, Jiao Liuyang, who occupied the podium for silver
medal by reporting in a time of 25.71 seconds. The third spot of the race was owned by Yao Jianan, who remained only 0.05 seconds behind her former finisher and posted a time of 25.76 seconds for bronze medal.
In the meantime, the arena witnessed the heart-winning swim of Qu Jingyu in Men’s breast-stroke discipline. Jingyu completed his swim in a time of 28.25 seconds and pocketed gold medal of the event. He was followed by his national team-member, Li Tianhao,
who was just 0.08 seconds slower than overwhelming the efforts of the egold medallist and stepped on the podium for silver medal, with an effort of 28.33 seconds. Tianhao was chased by Ma Xiang, who remained only 0.04 seconds slower than him and hit the wall
in a time of 28.37 seconds.
Moments later, Wang Shun claimed the title of Men’s 100m freestyle by posting an immaculate effort of 49.78 seconds. The gold medallist was in a lead of 0.07 seconds over his following competitor, s**+ Tengfei, who secured the victory stand for silver medal,
by clocking a time of 49.85 seconds. Similarly, Tengfei was 0.21 seconds ahead of Zhang Enjian, who completed his double-lap swim in a time of 50.06 seconds.
The last event of the session was Women freestyle relay, where Shanghai team proved its dominance and earned the title of the event by producing a fastest time of 3 minutes and 43.10 seconds. They were followed by Guangzhou Army, which stayed just 0.53 seconds
behind and stepped on the podium for silver medal, with a timing of 3 minutes and 43.63 seconds. The third position of the freestyle relay was obtained by team of Shandong, which remained 0.17 seconds slower than their former finishers and hit the wall with
an effort of 3 minutes and 43.80 seconds.
The spectators enjoyed the noteworthy efforts of all national athletes who competed with each other for a podium finish in their respective events. Furthermore, winners were awarded accolades for their tempting efforts after the session.
