Wang Lin ousts Evgenia Dimova in Women’s Singles qualifying round – Hong Kong Open Update
China’s spirited Women’s Singles expert Wang Lin played with great conviction and earned a spot in the second stage of qualifying round in Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open on November 20, 2012.
She intercepted Evgenia Dimova of Russia by piling up favourable figures of 21-16 and 21-12 in the opening match which lasted for 24 minutes.
With this timely win, she is just one step away from the main draw of this Super Series and Mong Kwan Yi of Hong Kong will be the next challenger in her way to success.
The lower ranked but talented Chinese shuttler will go all out to lock the honour and critics are giving her better odds after her splendid performance in the opening match.
Wang Lin set the foundation of her dominance by prevailing in the establishing rallies and maintained that upper hand all the way to final moments.
She looked in prime touch in the opening game as the Russian player had no reply to her unbeatable strategy.
Wang Lin piled up an impressive total of 5 in no time and then doubled her lead by putting an indomitable figure of 11 before the interval.
After the mid-game break, she picked up some pace and widened the gap with few back-to-back points. She kept on gathering valuable points without any interruption and swept the table with a huge difference in the final margin.
Though, Evgenia Dimova showed some spark in third quarter of the set but it was not enough to avoid a 16-21 defeat.
This severe blow dazzled the Russian contender and she failed to come out of her challenger’s influence in the following game.
However, she did enjoy the upper hand in the establishing rallies as Wang Lin took some time to get back on track.
Evgenia Dimova played with great precision until 6-2 but she could not go with the same flow and allowed her competitor to counter-balance the situation.
The Chinese campaigner did not squander this counter-attack opportunity and placed an impressive margin of 11.
Wang Lin made best out of this rhythm and cruised to victory with an overwhelming score of 21-12.
