Wang Shixian sends Mingtian Fu packing in Women’s Singles first round at Li Ning China Open 2012
China’s Wang Shixian did not face any considerable trouble in reaching into Women’s Singles second round as she played terrific badminton in first round clash against Singapore’s Mingtian Fu at Li Ning China Open 2012 on Wednesday, November 14, in Shanghai.
The fourth seeded Shixian, who is currently World Number Five in Women’s Singles ranking, was quite comfortable on court and responded positively to her home fans by eliminating her lower ranked Singaporean rival in 41 minutes.
Chinese shuttler was the favourite to win this battle and did not let down the local crowd as she stayed in commanding position throughout the battle and remained successful in winning it in straight sets with a comfortable margin.
On the contrary, the un-seeded Mingtian could not show aggression on court as she failed to take the bird early and also remained unable to match the pace of rallies. She tried her best but not enough to escape defeat from the hands of her local opponent.
From the starting points of first set, the impressive Shixian played with wonderful speed and control in her shots and remained in lead at the initial stage.
The positive play of Shixian remained flawless in all areas of the court and she remained successful in setting up a stunning lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Mingtian tried her best to play positive badminton and stop her rival’s progress but failed to take charge of rallies as her Chinese opponent was on a different level.
In the meanwhile, Shixian was very calm and composed in the arena and she managed to end up the set with a comfortable margin of 21-16.
Mingtian worked hard to play positive badminton in the second set but she again failed to create pressure on her higher ranked Chinese challenger who was dictating the pace of rallies in the opening half.
After the break, the fourth seeded Shixian stayed on track without facing any considerable problem and won the set with a 21-14 score on the board.
The impressive Shixian emerged as the winner in this first round clash by taking just straight games with a striking margin of 21-16 and 21-14.
