Wang Shixian tames Tsz Ka Chan in Women’s Singles round-of-16 at Victor Korea Open 2013
China’s experienced player Wang Shixian continues her smooth sailing on court and reached into Women’s Singles quarter-final after defeating Hong Kong’s Tsz Ka Chan in round-of-16 battle at Victor Korea Open 2013 in Seoul, on Thursday, January 10.
The World Number Five Shixian, who has been positioned at number five in Women’s Singles main draw, played with staggering precision and managed to overpower her lower ranked challenger in 38 minutes.
Shixian was on a different level as she capitalised her tremendous skills and experience and easily wrapped up a comprehensive victory in straight games with a crushing difference on the score board.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Tsz Ka tried her best to match the speed of her challenger but failed to put up strong show and eventually lost this pre-quarter-final battle in straight sets without even putting up strong resistance.
Shixian delivered extremely well from the starting points of first set as she played with remarkable speed and grabbed the control of the game.
The tempo of the rallies was very fast in starting game and Shixian entertained local fans with her incredible skills.
Until the end of first part of first set, the incredible Shixian achieved a strong position on score board by setting up a sufficient gap.
After the mid-game interval, Shixian stayed focused in the arena and remained successful in keeping a comfortable gap.
The positive and attacking play of Shixian helped her to bag the first game with a staggering margin of 21-9.
Tsz Ka was once again in problem in the second game as she faced a cruel treatment from her challenger who was flawless on court.
The perfectly executed smashes and net killings kept Shixian ahead of her rival all the way until the end of first half in second game.
In the second part of second game, the incredible Shixian continued her comfortable run and easily bagged the second set by a stunning difference of 21-16.
The higher ranked Shixian remained successful in maintaining her smooth run in the tournament as she easily won this round-of-16 clash in straight games with a dominating 21-9 and 21-16 score on the board.
