Wang Shixian trounces Ratchanok Intanon to land title berth in BWF Superseries Finals 2012
China’s former World Number One Wang Shixian showed a great performance in the arena and landed a title berth after defeating Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon in Women’s Singles semi-final of BWF Superseries Finals 2012 on Saturday, December 15, in Shenzhen.
The World Number Five Shixian, who has been positioned at number three in Women’s Singles seeding in the tournament, was in smashing form as she played with remarkable precision and managed to end up the winning run of Ratchanok in 43 minutes.
Chinese lady was in complete control of rallies from the opening points and remained successful in finishing off the battle in straight games with a good margin on the score board.
On the contrary, the World Number Nine Ratchanok was in all sorts of trouble in the first game. However, she gave a good fight in the second game before losing the match in straight sets with a reasonable difference.
Right from the starting points, the in-form Shixian played in an aggressive fashion and did not face any trouble in controlling the pace of rallies at the early stage.
Shixian proved that she has attained highest class skills in the arena and eventually managed to set up a strong domination in the arena.
Chinese player stayed in a commanding position all the way to take a phenomenal lead until the end of starting part.
The confused Ratchanok could not play positive game after the mid-game interval as she lost her focus in the arena.
Shixian did not reduce the pace of the game at any stage and comfortably clinched the first set with a comfortable 21-12 difference on the board.
In the second set, the lower ranked Thai shuttler also played elevated badminton by increasing his speed in all areas of the court and remained neck-to-neck against her rival until the end of opening half.
However, Shixian changed her tactics after the one-minute break and played controlled badminton in the concluding points and eventually took the second game with a close 21-19 score on the board.
