Wang Shun claims Men’s 400m IM title: Day one – 2011 Chinese Long Course Nationals
Day one of the 2011 Chinese Long Course Nationals got-off to a strong start with the performance of Wang Shun in Rizhao, China, on Thursday, September 22. The session of the meet conducted three vital events.
Firstly, Wang Shun secured gold medal in the Men’s 400m Individual Medley event. Then, Tang Yi captured gold medal in the Women’s 100m freestyle race and Tang Yi won golden crown in the Women’s 50m butterfly swim.
In the Men’s 400m Individual Medley event, Wang Shun of China hit the wall in 4 minutes and 11.61 seconds to win gold medal on the podium. Most importantly, Shun thrashed down Wang Chengxiang’s previous best meet record of 4 minutes and 11.89 seconds, set
at the Chinese Spring Nationals, in April, 2011. This impressive victory also moved Wang Shun to Fourth place in the world rankings of the current swimming.
Ryan Lochte currently holds the Number One spot in the respective category with an effort of 4 minutes and 07.13 seconds, followed by Tyler Clary with a time of 4 minutes and 11.17 seconds. Laszlo Cseh holds third spot with an effort of 4 minutes and 11.22
seconds.
In the corresponding race, Huang Chaosheng secured silver medal on the podium by posting a stunning time of 4 minutes and 12.54 seconds. His effort moved him to Ninth place in the world rankings of swimming. Yang Zhixian earned bronze medal on the podium
by submitting an impressive time of 4 minutes and 13.77 seconds. The swim moved Yang Zhixian to 15th spot in international rankings of swimming.
The Women’s 100m freestyle title was clinched by Tang Ti of China with a winning time of 54.08 seconds. Wang Shijia earned silver with a mark of 55.38 seconds, whereas, Zheng Yanan snared bronze medal with a time of 55.49 seconds. In addition, Lu Ying snagged
the Women's 50m butterfly title with a triumphant mark of 25.99 seconds. Meanwhile, Ling Shuyuan secured silver in a time of 26.64 seconds and Jiao Liuyang grabbed bronze with a mark of 26.75 seconds.
