Wang Shun secures gold medal in 1500m freestyle meet: 2011 Chinese National City Games
Young gun of China, Wang Shun took a huge ovation from Nanchang’s crowd due to his animated swimming effort in the long course splash of the 2011 Chinese National City Games in China, on Monday, October 24. The session of the meet held the Men’s 1500m and
Women’s 50m freestyle, Men’s and Women’s 400m medley relay races.
Wang Shun gave a stunning attempt over his contestants, Li Yunqi and Ke Wang, hitting the finishing wall in a mouth shattering time of 14 minutes and 56.92 seconds to take over the Men’s 1500m freestyle title of the platform. That swim also moved Shun to
Eighth place in the world rankings of swimming.
On the other hand, a close encounter was witnessed between Li Yunqi and Ke Wang for the second and third positions, as Yunqi thrashed out Wang by touching the finishing wall in a winning time of 15 minutes and 08.98 seconds to claim silver medal. Meanwhile,
Ke Wang settled for bronze title in a time of 15 minutes and 20.14 seconds. In addition, Huang Chao impressed the arena by claiming fourth position with a scintillating mark of 15 minutes and 36.87 seconds.
In the second final heat of the evening, Li Zhesi was up against her strongest rivals, Yubei Yao and Ye Shiwen in the 50m freestyle category. Zhesi got-off to a strong start in the final heat and beat her contestants by powering the finishing wall in a time
of 25.17 seconds to claim Women’s 50m freestyle title. Zhesi had been the gold medallist in 4x100m medley relay at the 2009 World Championships edition, in Rome.
In addition, she was gold medallist of the respective race at the 2010 World Championships edition, in Dubai. In the meantime, Yao earned silver title in a time of 25.69 seconds and Shiwen settled for bronze medal with a mark of 25.75 seconds.
Moreover, the Men’s 400m medley relay title was clinched by Hangzhou with a scintillating time of 3 minutes and 42.25 seconds and the Women’s 400m medley relay crown was taken over by Zhengzhou with a mark of 4 minutes and 05.30 seconds.
