Wang Shun wins Men’s 200m IM crown in Rizhao: Day two – 2011 Chinese Long Course Nationals
Wang Shun impressed the arena in competitive swimming on day two of the 2011 Chinese Long Course Nationals, in Rizhao, China, on Friday, September 23. The session of the meet organised two vital final heats. Initially, Wang Shun secured gold medal in the
200m Individual Medley event. On the other hand, Shao Yiwen took home the golden crown in Women’s 400m freestyle race.
In the Men’s 200m Individual Medley race, Wang Shun hit the wall in 1 minute and 58.56 seconds to win gold medal on the podium. Wang’s effort was short of Zhang Zishan’s previous best meet record of 1 minute and 58.53 seconds set back in 2009, in China.
After the race, Shun was pleased with the effort he was able to put in the respective meet.
Meanwhile, Yin Yang secured silver title after he touched the finishing wall to submit a stunning time of 2 minutes and 00.19 seconds. In the corresponding swim, Zhang Shan earned bronze medal on the podium by posting an impressive time of 2 minutes and
01.70 seconds.
Afterwards, in the Women’s 400m freestyle final, Shao Yiwen powered the wall in 4 minutes and 04.59 seconds to win golden crown on the podium. In the meantime, Lin Xuanxu secured silver medal by posting a matchless time of 4 minutes and 04.62 seconds. Last,
but not the least, Xin Xin picked up bronze with an impressive mark of 4 minutes and 07.98 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Sun Yang took home the Men’s 400m freestyle crown by posting a winning time of 3 minutes and 40.29 seconds. The victory moved him to third spot behind Paul Biedermann (3:40.07) and Ian Thorpe (3:40.08), in the current world rankings of
swimming. Meanwhile, Sun Xiaolei secured golden crown in the Men’s 50m back-stroke race with a sterling mark of 24.87 seconds.
All participants of the meet took a huge ovation from the crowd due to their scintillating swims, while the triumphant athletes were honoured with medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
