Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang (F) clinch Women’s Doubles title in the 2011 China Open Premier Super Series
China’s World Number One shuttlers, Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang (F) continue their winning streak as they have clinched Women’s Doubles title in the 2011 China Open Premier Super Series, which ended on Sunday, November 27, in Shanghai, China. In the final showdown,
the top seeds toppled their team-mates Tang Jinhua and Huan Xia in a straight set fight.
The top seeds have been playing incredible badminton for the last 10 months and have reached in the finals of all events accept the BWF Super Series finals in January 2011. They have won many major events in the current year and are miles ahead of the second
seeded pair in the Women’s Doubles world rankings.
In the final contest of the China Open, Xiaoli and Yang showed no mercy to their compatriots in the first game and won it with a remarkable margin. In the following game, they remained positive and kept the pace high to thrash their challengers in a completely
one-sided fight and bagged the match without any trouble.
In the opening set, Xiaoli and Yang started in a relaxed way while their opponents played aggressive badminton and set up a small early lead by reaching at 6-3. However, the top seeds accelerated their speed and lifted their level of play to tackle the aggression
of their team-mates. They started to build lead by playing fast and positive game and reached at 11-8 until the break.
After the break, the top seeds continued their aggressive run as they played attacking badminton and spared no chance for Jinhua and Xia to fight back in the first set. Xiaoli and Yang won the first game in style by a superb score of 21-11.
In the following set of the match, Jinhua and Xia matched the speed of their higher ranked compatriots by playing with wonderful aggression. The score was 8-8 when Xiaoli and Yang controlled the pace and started to build a good lead. Until the break in the
second set, they were leading at 11-8.
After the interval, the top seeds remained on the right track and extended their lead by putting up fabulous show in front of the huge home fans. They took the second game easily with an incredible score of 21-10. The title-match ended up in 40 minutes with
a margin of 21-11 and 21-10.
