Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang bag Women’s Doubles crown in 2011 Denmark Open Premier Super Series
China’s top seeds Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang proved their supremacy as they have bagged Women’s Doubles crown after taming their compatriots, Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei in the final of the 2011 Denmark Open Premier Super Series, on Sunday, October 23, in Denmark.
The World Number One and top seeds, Xiaoli and Yang proved their elite skills as they showed no respect to their team-mates and finished up the match in straight sets by taking 43 minutes in the court. Qing and Yunlei played well but not enough to dominate
the pace of the game and lost the match without winning any set.
Both pairs showed their wonderful skills in the opening set of the match by playing to their full potential. They employed powerful smashes, net killings, strong pushes and superb drives to dominate the pace of the game.
However, Xiaoli and Yang managed to take the ending points and won the set. The second game was easy for the top seeds as they dictated the pace of the game and won it without any considerable resistance.
The start of the match was thrilling when both sides employed attacking strokes to set up an early lead. Nevertheless, no pair could manage it as both sides played phenomenal game by keeping the pace at the maximum level. The score remained tight until the
one-minute interval in the first game.
After the break, both pairs pushed each other in all corners of the court by working well at the net. The score entered into the concluding phase in the first game when Xiaoli and Yang played well and bagged the set with a tight score of 22-20.
The second set was not that tough as the top seeds established their dominance in the game from the opening points of the match. They remained in wonderful control and dictated the pace of the game by taking the bird early and established a reasonable gap
in the first half.
The wonderful smashes of Xiaoli and Yang helped them to stretch their lead in the second part of the game. Their flawless game spared no chance for their lower ranked team-mates to fight back in the game. The top seeds won the second set without any trouble
with a margin of 21-16.
The match ended up in straight sets of 43 minutes with a 22-20 and 21-16 score on the board.
