Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang grab Women’s Doubles title in BWF Super Series Finals to end year in style
China’s top seeds, Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang, have won the Women’s Doubles title after thrashing Korea’s Jung Eun Ha and Min Jung Kim in the final showdown of the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals, on Sunday, December 18, in Liu Zhou, China.
The defending champions of the event, Xiaoli and Yang, who are also ranked at number one position in the Women’s Doubles world rankings, played amazing game and crushed the Koreans with a stunning difference.
Jung Eun and Min Jung failed to tackle the aggression of their higher ranked Chinese rivals and lost the match without putting up strong resistance. The Chinese duo took just 33 minutes to finish the battle in straight sets and claimed the title.
Xiaoli and Yang were impressive in their planned game as they finished the first set with a terrific margin. In the second game, the Korean pair put up a little resistance but not enough to stop the Chinese shuttlers from winning the match.
The opening set of the final contest was stunning for the Korean players as their local opponents played flawless badminton. Xiaoli and Yang put up remarkable show of aggressive game and dictated the pace of rallies with a wonderful ease. Until the break
in the first game, Chinese players were miles ahead at 11-2.
After the break, Xiaoli and Yang continued their flawless run in the match by maintaining pressure on their Korean challengers. It was a completely one-sided battle in the opening set that ended up with an incredible margin of 21-8.
In the following set, Jung Eun and Min Jung played better game as they matched the speed of their rivals until 7-7. At this stage, Xiaoli and Yang started to execute powerful smashes and dominated the game at net to set up an 11-8 lead until the break.
After the break, the Korean shuttlers accelerated their speed but failed to play positive badminton as they lost their control over the pace of the rallies. Xiaoli and Yang were focused in the game and continued their peerless run until they finished the
set with a convincing score of 21-12. The end result of this 33-minute final contest was 21-8 and 21-12.
