Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang win Women’s Doubles title in the French Open Super Series – Badminton news
China’s top seeds Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang continue their dominating run in the Women’s Doubles category as they have clinched won another title in the 2011 French Open Super Series, which ended on Sunday, October 30, in Paris.
They defeated their team-mates and World Number Two pair of Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei in the final of the tournament.
The World Number One, Xiaoli and Yang have played finals in all tournaments they have participated in the current year so far. They played to their full potential and won the fight in straight sets by putting up an interesting show of highest standard badminton.
The ruling World Champions, Xiaoli and Yang had to dig deep into their arsenal to win the first set of the fight with a dramatically close margin. However, in the second game, it was a smooth ride for the top seeds as they showed no mercy to their opponents
and won the set with a decent difference.
The match started with the thrilling rallies from both sides as they played with aggression. Both Chinese pairs kept on playing tremendous badminton and showed no sign of giving up in the opening game of the match. They progressed with the same pace by playing
at the same standard.
Both sides remained equal until the score reached into the final phase of the set when Xiaoli and Yang played better badminton and remained successful in taking the first set with a dramatic 26-24 score. Qing and Yunlei failed to play well in the end which
caused them loss in the first set.
In the following set, Xiaoli and Yang controlled the pace in the starting points as they dominated the rallies at the net and executed powerful smashes from the rear-court area. The impressive and flawless game of the top seeds left no room for their opponents
to put up strong show.
Xiaoli and Yang remained focused throughout the second game and won it with a convincing margin of 21-15 on the board. They won the title-match by taking 44 minutes in the court with a margin of 26-24 and 21-15.
