Wang Xin beats Sung Ji Hyun in Women’s Singles quarter-final of German Open GP Gold 2012
China’s talented player Wang Xin had to dig deep into her arsenal to produce better form for beating her opponent Sung Ji Hyun of Korea in Women’s Singles quarter-final of German Open GP Gold 2012 on Friday, March 2, in Germany.
The World Number Two Xin, who is the top seed in Women’s Singles draw of German Open, struggled really hard in the entire match and managed to win it with a tight margin in three games.
On the other hand, Ji Hyun put up strong resistance against her higher ranked Chinese opponent but unfortunately failed to play well in the deciding game and lost the match in 64 minutes.
Xin delivered sensational performance and won many major tournaments last year. She proved her elevated skills and thrashed all top shuttlers in the world of badminton on numerous occasions and has established her worth in the arena.
In the opening rallies of first set, Xin managed to take a small lead and maintained it until the ending points of first half. However, her Korean opponent was also close on the score board until the break.
After the interval, Xin started to dominate the pace of rallies and stretched her lead by reaching at 19-16.
Xin could not finish the set as her Korean rival put up stunning show of top quality badminton and scored five points in a row. The Chinese lost the first game with a close margin of 19-21.
In the second game, Xin played aggressive badminton and took a wonderful lead of 11-4 until the break.
Ji Hyun increased her speed after the break and reduced the difference but failed to stop her higher ranked opponent from winning the second set. Xin took the game with a tight score of 21-18.
In the deciding game, both ladies entertained the huge local crowd with their impressive skills as they remained equal until 12-12.
At this stage, the higher ranked Chinese took over the control by increasing her speed and bagged the set with a margin of 21-18.
Xin managed to win this thrilling fight in three games with a 19-21, 21-18 and 21-18 score on the board.
In the semi-final encounter, Xin will lock horns against Juliane Schenk of Germany who defeated Inthanon Ratchanok of Thailand in another quarter-final contest.
