Wang Xin brushes aside Jie Yao in semi-final of the Singapore Open Super Series 2011
China’s Wang Xin defeated Netherlands’ Jie Yao, in the Women’s Singles semi-final clash of the Singapore Open Super Series 2011, held in Singapore City, on June 18, 2011.
World Number Two, Xin, who is the third seed in Women’s Singles draw of this event, spent only 27 minutes to crush Jie, who delivered a stunning performance by beating World Number Three, Wang Yihan of China, in the quarter-final of the event.
Xin, who has been performing well in this event, continued her winning streak in the semi-final of the tournament. She remained focused in the entire match and never lost her control at any stage of the game.
Right from the starting points of the first set, the Chinese shuttler was successful in building up considerable pressure on her opponent, who made many errors by playing hasty strokes in the first-half of the game. Xin executed powerful smashes and dominated
the game at the net, where she earned many points.
The Chinese was dictating the pace of the game, as she made her rival move around in the entire court by playing in all corners. Xin thrashed her challenger in the first set with a one-sided margin of 21-13, by consuming just 14 minutes.
The following set proved to be poorer for Jie, who completely failed to cope up with her opponent in any aspect of the game. The Chinese was playing smoothly in the second game, without facing any trouble in scoring points. The score progressed at a stunning
pace for the Chinese, who was playing with immense confidence.
Xin emerged as the winner in this one-sided semi-final match against Jai, who was lacking the pace and power in her strokes. The Chinese finished the game with a 21-11 margin, in just 13 minutes. The final score of this 27-minute straight-set match was 21-13
and 21-11.
In the final encounter, Xin will be up against Tine Baun of Denmark, who overpowered the World Number One and top seed of the event, Wang Shixian of China, in their semi-final showdown.
