Wang Xin crushes Tine Baun to claim Women’s Singles title in the 2011 Hong Kong Open Super Series
China’s spirited young shuttler Wang Xin stretches her winning streak as she has claimed Women’s Singles title after crushing Denmark’s Tine Baun in the title match of the 2011 Hong Kong Open Super Series, on Sunday, November 20, in Hong Kong.
The World Number Three Xin has been putting up wonderful show of quality badminton for the last 10 months and has elevated her level of play. In the final of the Hong Kong Open, the Chinese continued her supremacy over Baun as she has never lost to the Danish
in the previous nine head-to-head meetings. In the title match, Xin finished up the fight in straight games by taking just 30 minutes.
The opening game remained close throughout the set but the Chinese played to her maximum skills and remained successful in winning it. However, the second set was not that hard for Xin as she sailed smoothly in the whole set and bagged it with a convincing
margin.
The match started in a wonderful way as both ladies played fast badminton by manipulating all loop poles of each other. They remained in wonderful control over the pace of the game and progressed closely until the break when the Chinese was slightly ahead
at 11-10.
After the break, the contest progressed in the similar tight manner and reached at the ending phase without giving any advantage to any shuttler. However, Xin produced some superb strokes at the end of the first half and score four consecutive points to
win the battle with a margin of 21-17.
In the following set, Xin played in a different way this time as she took no time in setting up a superb lead of 11-4 in the first half. Baun completely failed to dominate the game as she could not find gaps in her rival’s court to earn points.
After the break, Xin remained focused and kept her opponent moving in all areas of the court throughout the game. She spared no chance for the seventh seed Danish and bagged the second set with a difference of 21-14. Xin won the 30-minute straight-set fight
with a margin of 21-17 and 21-14.
