Wang Xin sends Mingtian Fu packing in Women’s Singles round-of-16 at Badminton Asia Championships
China’s elite shuttler Wang Xin stormed into Women’s Singles quarter-final after thrashing Singapore’s Mingtian Fu in round-of-16 encounter at the Badminton Asia Championships 2012 in China, on Thursday, April 19.
The World Number 2 Xin, who has been placed at number two in the seeding of Asia Championships, showed her remarkable skills and sent Mingtian packing without losing any set in the contest.
Xin played with precision and did not let her opponent dominate the pace at any stage in the entire contest and won it in just 27 minutes.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Mingtian could not match the skills of Xin as she completely failed to cope up with the extraordinary speed of her opponent and crashed out without putting up even a meagre resistance.
The higher ranked Xin started her incredible run in the opening game and did not show any mercy to her Singaporean rival who struggled hard to find a good flow.
Xin played with variations and kept her opponent under pressure by maintaining the pace of rallies throughout the contest.
Until the 60-second interval in the opening game, Xin was sailing smoothly while setting up an impressive lead on the board.
After the interval, Mingtian tried to resist by playing fast badminton but failed to control the pace and remained struggling behind her Chinese challenger.
Xin was on track as she continued playing with precision and wrapped up the opening set with a one-sided margin of 21-8.
In the second set, Xin was again in commanding position as she did not let her opponent to take charge of rallies and managed a good lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Mingtian tried to reduce the gap by playing with variations but she could not disturb the flow of her higher ranked rival and remained behind on the board.
In the meanwhile, Xin continued showing her impressive craft in the ending phase of second game and easily bagged it with remarkable 21-10 score on the board.
Xin won this Women’s Singles contest in 27 minutes with a one-sided score of 21-8 and 21-10.
