Wang Xin wins Women’s Singles title at the 2011 Denmark Open Premier Super Series – Badminton news
China’s spirited shuttler, Wang Xin wins Women’s Singles title after proving her superiority over the higher ranked compatriot, Wang Yihan in the title match of the 2011 Denmark Open Premier Super Series, on Sunday, October 23, at Odense, Denmark.
Xin, who is currently World Number Three, played to her full potential against the World Number One Yihan, who was the top in the Women’s Singles draw of the championship. The top seed failed to stop the winning run of her compatriot and lost the match without
winning a single game.
The passionate Xin established her control over the pace of the rallies from the starting points and played flawless badminton in the whole match. She won the opening set with a wonderful margin after displaying superb show of top quality game. The second
game was quite tough until the ending points. However, Xin managed to score the ending points and won the crown.
The starting rallies of the match were quite interesting when both ladies played terrific badminton. They played with aggression and also showed superb defensive skills on various occasions. Nevertheless, Xin started to gear up her speed and remained successful
in getting a strong position in the match.
Yihan failed to control the pace of the rallies as her opponent was playing with precision. Xin remained focused in the whole game and finished it up in a wonderful fashion with a one-sided 21-14 score on the board.
In the second game, Yihan played better game as she eliminated all of his errors and remained close to her team-mate. Both shuttlers maintained the pace of the rallies at the highest level. Yihan employed her impressive smashes to put pressure on her rival,
who was playing a composed game.
Both team-mates remained neck-to-neck until the final points of the second game. The wonderful exchange of long rallies engaged the local crowd throughout the match. Yihan made a critical mistake at the end which helped Xin to take the game with a dramatic
23-21 margin on the score board.
The overall result of this 48-minute straight-set final match was 21-14 and 23-21.
