Wang Yihan beats Saina Nehwal to lift Women’s Singles crown in the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals
China’s best shuttler, Wang Yihan, stretches her winning streak by winning the Women’s Singles crown after beating India’s impressive player, Saina Nehwal, in the title match of the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals, in Liu Zhou, China, on Sunday, December 18.
The World Number One Yihan, who was the top seed in the Women’s Singles category of the tournament, had to employ all of her skills to get rid of the talented Saina, who is currently World Number Four.
The top seed Chinese played at her best and emerged as the winner of the final contest in three games by working hard for 71 minutes. The Indian played well by not enough to stop Yihan from winning the Women’s Singles crown.
In the opening game, Saina showed her elevated skills and won the set with a decent score. However, in the second game of the match, the Chinese power her way back into the match by winning this set with a huge margin. In the final game, the Chinese continued her elevated performance and ended the game with a striking difference.
Saina played well in the opening set of the match and dominated the game until the break where she was leading with a wonderful margin of 11-5. Yihan started in a shaky way but gradually geared up her speed and remained successful in levelling the game by reaching at 14-14.
At this stage, the Chinese failed to control the pace as Saina injected more speed into her strokes and dominated the game at net. Yihan failed to stop the impressive run of Saina in the first set and lost it by a margin of 18-21.
In the second set, both shuttlers progressed closely until 11-11 when Yihan played aggressive badminton and showed no respect to her rival in the rest of the game. She was focused this time and made no mistake in taking the second set with a 21-13 score.
In the final set, Yihan was everywhere in the court as Saina dropped her speed and failed to match the pace of the rallies. The Chinese remained on the right track and won the set easily with a superb score of 21-13. The overall result of this Women’s Singles final was 18-21, 21-13 and 21-13.
