Wang Yihan overwhelms Eriko Hirose to penetrate into Women’s Single quarter-final at Indonesia Open
China’s top player Wang Yihan showed her elite craft in the court when she overwhelmed her lower ranked opponent Eriko Hirose of Japan in Women’s Singles round-of-16 at 2012 Indonesia Open Premier Super Series on Thursday, June 14, in Indonesia.
The in-form Yihan, who is ruling World Number One and the top seeded shuttler in Women’s Singles draw of the championship, worked hard to chuck out her gritty Japanese opponent with a narrow score on the board.
The top seeded Yihan employed all of her skills in the court and eventually remained successful in beating her Japanese opponent by ending up the contest in two games while working hard for 59 minutes in the court.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Hirose put up superb show of aggressive and positive badminton and showed her impressive skills while playing against the World Number One shuttler from China.
However, the Japanese lady could not overpower the game in the ending points of both games and bowed down to Yihan with a narrow margin on the score board.
In the opening game both ladies played to their maximum potential and showed their aggressive skills until the one-minute break without managing a reasonable gap on the board.
After the one-minute interval, Yihan tried her best to take a reasonable lead by gearing up her speed in all areas of the court but failed to live up to expectations as her Japanese opponent was also maintaining her positive performance in the court.
Nevertheless, Yihan managed to take over the control at the ending points and clinched the game with a sensational margin of 23-21.
In the following set, the higher ranked Yihan tried to take a comfortable lead but again failed to manage it as Hirose was also playing at her best speed.
The beautiful exchange of prolonged rallies between both shuttlers entertained the local crowd as the score progressed closely until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Yihan managed to take over the charge of rallies from her opponent and remained successful in taking the second set from her rival with a tight margin of 21-19.
The top seeded Yihan won this straight-set battle in 59 minutes with a dramatic 23-21, and 21-19 score on the board.
