Wang Yihan shows Eriko Hirose in Women’s Singles pre-quarter-final at Li Ning China Open 2012
Wang Yihan, the top shuttler in China, secured her berth in the top-eight after working a little hard in pre-quarter-final clash when she overpowered Japan’s Eriko Hirose at the Li Ning China Open 2012 in Shanghai, on Thursday, November 11.
The top seeded Yihan, who has been positioned at number one in Women’s Singles world ranking, had to dig into her arsenal to produce better form and she eventually managed to end up the winning run of Hirose in 47 minutes.
Yihan played with impressive speed and elevated her game when it mattered most. She did not lose her focus in the ending points of both sets and won this match in straight games with a tight margin on the board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Hirose showed a wonderful performance as she created pressure on her higher ranked Chinese rival all the way but lost her focus in the ending points and lost the match with a respectable total.
Right from the opening points, both ladies showed wonderful performance and remained toe-to-toe at the initial stage.
Both participants continued playing attacking badminton and remained close on score board until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, no one could manage a reasonable lead as they were playing at the same level and remained close until the ending points.
At this stage, Yihan was very calm and composed in the arena and she managed to claim the set with a close 21-19 score on the board.
In the second game, both ladies again played impressive badminton and remained close in the arena until the end of opening half.
Hirose played extremely well all the way but failed to create a reasonable gap on score board as her local opponent was in tremendous form.
After the one-minute break, the impressive Yihan continued her positive and controlled play which helped her in the ending points to take charge of rallies and she managed to win the game with a tight score of 21-19.
The top seeded Yihan emerged as the winner in this Women’s Singles pre-quarter-final battle in straight games with a close 21-19 and 21-19 score on the board.
