Wang Yihan topples Sapsiree Taerattanachai in Women’s Singles semi-final at Li Ning China Masters
Wang Yihan, one of the most successful shuttlers in the present era, lived up to the expectations as she secured her berth in Women’s Singles final after defeating Thailand’s Sapsiree Taerattanachai in the semi-final clash at Li Ning China Masters 2012 on Saturday, September 15, in China.
The in-form Yihan, who is the World Number One and top seed in main draw of the tournament, played with precision and remained successful in stamping her mark over the lower ranked Sapsiree in a commanding manner in just 39 minutes.
Top seeded Yihan was at her best as she displayed a remarkable temperament on court and managed to wind up the battle in straight sets in an easy fashion with a convincing difference on score board.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Sapsiree failed to continue her giant killing performance in the semi-final contest as she could not dominate the pace of rallies against her higher ranked Chinese opponent and eventually lost the match easily without proving her elevated craft.
In the first game, Yihan played fast and positive badminton from opening points and remained successful in getting a strong position on court by taking an early lead.
The Chinese shuttler was in complete control of the game and she took a wonderful lead until the break.
After the mid-game interval, Yihan continued her punishing run on court without showing any mercy to her rival and eventually grabbed the opening game with a stunning 21-13 score on the board.
The second game was shocking for the Thai lady who could not put up strong resistance in opening half as she committed many unforced errors and remained struggling.
In the meanwhile, the Chinese player remained on track and took a wonderful lead until the end of first half.
After the mid-game interval, Yihan did not spare any chance for her rival to get close on score board at any stage. She was fully focused on court and managed to finish off the second game with a smashing margin of 21-9.
Yihan emerged as the winner in this Women’s Singles semi-final clash in straight sets with a crushing 21-13 and 21-9 score on the board.
