Wang Yihan unseats Juliane Schenk from top spot on victory stand – German Open Update

China’s badminton queen Wang Yihan served notice of her dominance in the final round of Yonex German Open and claimed the Women’s Singles crown on March 3, 2013.
She locked horns with a local shuttler Juliane Schenk and took just 34 minutes to lock the honour with 21-14 and 21-13   margin.
World Number three shuttler did not give her challenger even a single chance to proceed and put her expedition to halt with a staggering knock.
The German campaigner, who third seeded player of this tournament, could not rise from the dust and crashed out of the event in a disgraceful manner.
Wang Yihan established a strong grip over game immediately in the beginning of first set. She employed all of her brilliance and experience in the establishing rallies and gained an early advantage.
She kept on clinching valuable points in a row and left her opponent far behind on the points table. This series of productive strokes helped her to pile up a mountainous figure of before the announcement of break.
After the one-minute interval, Wang Yihan injected more intensity in her attack and confined Juliane Schenk in the rear court.
Though, the German shuttler prevailed in couple of consecutive rallies but this fluctuated performance was not enough to tip the scale in her favour.
On the other hand, Wang Yihan struck hard when it mattered and reinstated her supremacy. She registered a winning total of 21-14 and gained a psychological edge before the following game.
Next set was also played in similar manner as the Chinese contender showed consistency in her performance and wrapped this showdown in just two games.
This time she played cautiously in the beginning and increased her speed gradually. She mounted pressure by claiming few uninterrupted points before the half time and then doubled the impact with some productive rallies immediately after the break.
The third quarter of the set saw Juliane Schenk making a swift progress on the points table but then Wang Yihan made a notable difference with some consecutive points.
She placed an overwhelming score of 21-13 and earned the right to be on top of the victory stand.
