Wang Yihan waylays P.V. Sindhu in group match – Sudirman Cup 2013
China’s seasoned shuttler, Wang Yihan, employed all of her experience and brilliance in the game to outshine P.V. Sindhu in the group match of Sudirman Cup on May 19, 2013.
This Women’s Singles tie was a part of the Group A match between India and China. Both female contenders put a commendable show of badminton skills and earned great deal of admiration.
They remained head-to-head for 66 minutes as this match prolonged to three gruelling sets before ending with decisive figures of 19-21, 21-16 and 21-14.
Though, the Chinese campaigner fetched a valuable match point for her team but it was not a smooth road to victory for her, as the young Indian shuttler challenged her in all departments of the game. P.V. Sindhu
amazed everyone by delivering a stunner against Wang Yihan in the opening game. However, the lack of good finishing skills proved the biggest hurdle in her way to success.
In first set of the match, Sindhu looked a bit confused in the beginning but then few productive rallies gave her a boost and she played with great conviction. She maintained a decent lead all the way to final
moments and wrapped this segment of the showdown with 21-19 score on the board.
However, things got changed for her in the next set when Wang Yihan managed to end her bad patch and stormed back into the contest.
This time the Chinese lady played with an authoritative approach and locked the honour in a splendid manner. She laid foundation of her supremacy by prevailing in the establishing rallies and then relished full
benefits of this advantage in latter part of the game.
Wang Yihan registered a winning margin of 21-16 and setup a nerve-racking decider. Unexpectedly, third set proved a dead contest as P.V.Sindhu hardly showed any resistance and surrendered tamely.
On the other hand, Wang Yihan played impeccable badminton and proved herself dominant technically and tactically. She registered her victory with a concluding figure of 21-14.
Her splendid triumph was the final blow for team India as they lost with score board flashing 5-0 score in the favour of China.
