Wang Zhengming knocks out Parupalli Kashyap in Men’s Singles semi-final at Li Ning China Open 2012
China’s Wang Zhengming continued his smooth sailing as he reached into Men’s Singles semi-final after defeating India’s Parupalli Kashyap in quarter-final clash at the Li Ning China Open 2012 at Shanghai, on Friday, November 16.
The in-form Zhengming, who is currently World Number 17 in Men’s Singles world ranking, showed up staggering performance and remained successful in taming Kashyap who has been positioned at number 23 in the world.
Backed by the support of local fans, Chinese shuttler was in complete control of the game as he played with speed and precision and ousted his Indian challenger in straight games with a crushing difference on score board.
In the meanwhile, Kashyap could not put up strong show as he failed to create pressure on his Chinese opponent and remained struggling all the way. He lost his quarter-final battle in straight sets without getting closer.
The fight was interesting in the opening half of first game when both shuttlers employed their aggressive skills and stayed neck-to-neck until the end of opening half.
However, it was Zhengming who took over the control of rallies after the one-minute break and he continued stretching his lead while remaining positive.
Zhengming remained confident in the ending points of opening set and he easily grabbed it with a reasonable 21-17 score on the board.
In the second game, the Chinese shuttler was on a completely different level as he played with impressive speed and power in his shots.
The pace of rallies was fast and Zhengming spared no chance for his Indian rival to get close at any stage.
Kashyap tried his best to play positive game but failed to shake the confidence of his local challenger and remained struggling miles behind until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the higher ranked Zhengming continued his impressive performance by keeping the pace of rallies at the maximum level and easily grabbed the second game with a stunning 21-7 score on the board.
The in-form Chinese shuttler did not let down his fans as he ended up the quarter-final contest in just 34 minutes and tamed Kashyap in straight games with a phenomenal margin of 21-17 and 21-7.
