Wang Zhengming ousts Wei Feng Chong to book his place in Men’s Singles semi-final at Singapore Open
Wang Zhengming, a talented shuttler from China, stamped his supremacy in the arena as he booked his place in Men’s Singles semi-final after beating Malaysia’s Wei Feng Chong in quarter-final encounter in Li Ning Singapore Open Super Series 2012 in Singapore,
on Friday, June 22.
The aggressive Zhengming, who has been place at number 18 in world placements, was pretty much in control of the pace and ousted his lower ranked spirited Malaysian opponent in an interesting fight with a reasonable margin on the board.
On the other hand, the World Number 37 Wei Feng could not maintain his rhythm in the court and despite putting up a spectacular show in the second game he failed to get rid of his Chinese opponent and lost the fight in straight sets with a decent margin.
In the first game, Zhengming started his campaign in a controlled manner as he dictated the pace of rallies and did not let his rival to get into commanding position throughout the opening half.
Until the mid-game interval, the higher ranked Zhengming managed a decent lead on the score board by reaching at 11-7.
After the break, Wei Feng tried to play with aggression but he failed to avoid unforced errors and remained struggling in the court.
In the meanwhile, Zhengming was focused in his game plan and easily won the first set with a spectacular margin of 21-12.
In the second game, Wei Feng showed his class by playing with impressive deception in his shots and also troubled the flow of his rival by taking the bird early from all areas.
The left handed Malaysian did not let the Chinese to take lead until the end of opening half of the game.
After the break, Wei Feng was leading with a comfortable margin and reached at 19-14 when Zhengming played incredible badminton and took six straight points to reach at 20-19.
The Chinese was in full command at the ending points and took the game with a margin of 22-20.
Zhengming defeated Wei Feng in straight games by taking just 35 minutes with a 21-12 and 22-20 score on the board.
