Wankhede has been my ground of debuts, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Varun-Aaron-c2744 – Cricket News Update
Varun Aaron, the right-arm Indian medium pacer, hopes to do well in his debut Test match, being played against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820.
Wankhede cricket stadium holds great importance to Aaron. The cricketer made his One-Day International (ODI) debut at this ground against England in October. The speedster did a great job in that match, claiming three wickets while
conceding 24 runs. Aaron wishes to play a similar role in Mumbai.
The 22-year-old said, “I made U-19 debut at the Wankhede. Its been my ground of debuts. My one-day debut (here) was pretty decent. I just hope that I do well here.”
Aaron received a last minute call into the Indian outfits; prior to that he had no clue whether he’ll play or not, the 22-year-old replaced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umesh-Yadav-c94625 in the playing XI.
Aaron, who was shocked with his inclusion, went wicket-less on Day One of the Mumbai Test and the pacer hopes to turn the fortunes around, when the Caribbean come out to bat again on day two.
Admitting that Indian bowlers were dominated by West Indies batsmen on opening day, Aaron said, “It was strange. I got to know last evening that I would be making my debut. (VVS) Laxman handed me the Test cap. It was a tough day.
Hopefully, it would get better from here.”
The West Indians are poised to score a big first innings total. The tourist had scored 267 runs for the loss of two wickets at the close of play. The Caribbean batsmen received some assistance from Indian fielders, who were sloppy
in the ground and dropped three catches.
Expecting the match to be a high scoring one, Aaron said, "There were a few close shaves in the beginning. Had one or two wickets come our way it would have been different. The wicket wasn't bad. I feel a lot of runs would be scored
here over the four days. There is a lot of grass which is going to bind it. It is not likely to break much."
