i have 2 lovebirds in the first place.they're laying eggs now.i bought two more lovebirds coz i think both of my first lovebirds are females and i want to get a male.so i just bought a new pair and placed them in the cgae.i know,i know.it's a mistake and both pairs fought against each other.i finally placed the two new lovebirds in a new cage.not exactly a good cage.i just used the old hamster cage we got.it's pretty tall so they have space to perch.but i want to have a maloe in the other cage so i could have fertile eggs.what should i do?any way to make them stop fighting?

please don't scold me.i know i'm wrong.

p.s:to skully:don't answer the question anymore.i know what you'll say.

  1. I have no idea but do those birds a favor and get them a bigger cage.

  2. Just because they are called love birds they are not automatically going to fall and love and mate. This may not be the time of the year that lovebirds mate. I would put the cages side by side until there seems to be some interest between the males and females. It may never happen, it will take some time you just have to be patient. I would look up lovebirds on the Internet and find out about their breeding practices. Also I would invest in another cage other than a hamster cage, and a bigger cage for the rest. You might not ever beable to put all 4 in one cage, plus you will need inesting boxes.

  3. You can not make them stop fighting but you can do something to Help.

The cage, Hamster cage? You should get a bird cage and place it exactly by the original cage.  After months try to place them in the cage, they continue to fight...You might as well keep both pairs apart.

  4. its hard to make them stop fighting cuz dey r new to each other.mayb if u place one of each couple in a seperate cage see wat hapnz.but b dere to watch.or else if dey still fight n ur not around den 1 ov dem mite get hurt.

  5. I know this question is 2days old but I will still answer =P

I use to have a lovebird and wanted to get it a mate. (I gave them to my best friend) Happens to be they fought, so I bought a separate bird cage and set them beside each other. After weeks I tested them, they still kinda like battled a bit. After a month I tried it again, OK OK they were OK. The next day, both sat right by each other.  All is well =D  (Oh how can your first two pairs be females? When they have eggs?)

Personally, in your case, a pair of birds who have been mates and a pair of new birds added to that, May cause jealousy. They will begin to fight and wont stop. Just set them in two different cages and where they can see the other birds, well communication even if far way or inches near.
