  1. Don't listen to your mom. This time she is wrong. Somehow learn to swim and if you are determined you can make the swim team.

  2. 13 isnt to old! its never too old to learn. if a YMCA or something wont teach you then have someone in your family help u. maybe even friends

  3. Perhaps you should experiment with other aquatic-related racing. Buy a boat! I suggest the Wavefox 5000. Or, if you really wanna take the swimming route, try to discreetly sneak flippers (and/or floaties, depending on the severity of the situation) to the first meet. Everyone will be astonished with your improvement!

  4. If you want something then make it happen. if you need to learn to swim, find a way. You can do it if you're driven. Then learn and practice and try out. You can do it if you want it. Don't take no for an answer. Good luck, seriously, work hard for this and you may get it.

  5. You're never too old to learn how to swim. Your mom shouldn't be telling you that.

  6. 13 is certainly not too old for swimming! go take lessons at YMCA or something and practice hard every single day.

  7. you are never too old to learn anything (: i am in the swim team, i learned how to swim by swim lessons (: believe me, racing in the water is fun, I LOVE IT (: learn how to swim like learn all the basics, and at the swim team, the coach will just teach you how to swim faster (: try it! it is fun :D

  8. Nah, 13 isnt too old for lessons. Go to the YMCA or another center like that and they offer swimming lessons for all age groups INCLUDING adults. You can learn how to swim and well. Good luck.

  9. Swimming lessons are good for all ages and it helps you learn more swim tactics rather then getting in some swimming pool and winging it. It may be a little embarrassing, but if you have some money private lessons are always an option. You can also invite some friends for a swim [those who know you can't swim may be better and more understanding considering the situation.] I'd say lessons are your best bet, but whatever you feel comfortable with is what you should do.

  10. They have swimming lessons for every age, so learn how to swim then join a club!

  11. Go for whatever your heart and mind desire, and do it with passion. Never mind your height, weight, shape, etc--your diligence, common sense and will-power will take care of all the nitty-gritty little problems and obstacles that you may encounter.

Swimming skills are precious for self-preservation for life and you may even save somebody's life one day. Success and victories in competitions are sweet and worth accomplishing.

If you start now, and keep on improving every year, by 20yrs old you could probably reach your potential for national or world standard. So go for it and best of luck!! Your passion shall take u there..... :-))

  12. learn how to swim
