ok I love photography and I'm not trying to be conceited but I'm pretty good at it actually. I love taking senior pictures, I've been hired to take 3 different girls senior pictures. I would love to get into this more but i'm only 18 so it's a little hard, people don't seem to trust I know what i'm doing. Does anyone have any ideas how to advertise more that I do photography/ any ideas how to get people to trust me?

  1. It takes experience.

  2. You could advertise through the net - maybe even make your own site show casing your work. Be sure to copyright all of your work first!

You could put an add in the paper, put up flyer's, and the best is by word of mouth - if your work is good people will talk. So when you do take pictures for someone, simply ask them to pass along how good you are.

Here is a site where you can blog with others (getting advice to your question), show off your work, get recognized, and pick up some tips.

    http://photo.net/

Here is another one that looks good:

This one is from National Geographic, so you know its good!

There are many many more!! At one time I entered one of my photos into a contest and it was published in a text book - forgot site for this one, but they all seem to offer contests.

Photography is awesome and fun, and its sounds like you are on your way!

    Best of luck!!

  3. Make fliers and place them in mailboxes and pass them out.

Spread the word to your relatives so that they can tell their friends.

If you attend church, have them place it in the bulletin and spread the word to the members.

    Have business cards made.

And you should totally go to city college and major in photography and then move on to a university.Make your dreams come true.Go for it! I hope to see you with a photography business in the future.

  4. It takes experience and "word of mouth" advertising.  Offer to do it for free for some people, or at an event -could be a dog show, car show, knitting show, whatever- and do some great photos.  Or for friends. If people like them, they will tell others or offer to have you do more.

I did exactly that, and in a few months I was doing photos of custom built swimming pools for a major builder and getting paid for it.

It takes time, but think about how good you could be if you promised yourself that you would work hard at it for just one year.  Everyone starts at the bottom rung of the ladder and has to climb one at a time.
