Last year, I went on a mission trip to Mexico with my church youth group. We got to build houses for poor families, and we really got to know the people there. It was truly an amazing experience. Well, after the mission trip, I moved. My new church, and all the other churches in the area don't have mission trips for youth. I really, really want to go back to Mexico again, and the only way possible would be to go with my old youth group. I asked some friends in my old youth group, and they said that if I asked the leaders, they would probably let me go to Mexico with them, even though I moved away. Well, I asked my parents, and they said it would be inconvenient to drive 4 hours away (that's how far my old church is), and that they would be worried about my safety. But I can't lose hope! How can I convince my parents to let me go? In the past, I've convinced my parents to let me do things with PowerPoints, because they lay out all the facts. Should I make one? Help!!!!!

  1. 1st of all god bless you and your church for doing these missions. have you discussed your ideas about missions in Mexico and maybe other places to your new church? get together with other youth in your new church and sit down and talk to the whole church as a whole and speak your ideas to them. i am sure any church would see the compassion you have for these missions of peace, love , hope for others and come to a good solution. you all might have to work as a group maybe to raise money yo go there or something but hey that's fun and godly just doing that. so whatever happens i pray and know god will shine some great light upon the whole situation. god bless you and everything you are planning.

  2. what you do is back yourself up with a reason to go to Mexico; A GOOD reason other than you miss going. Tell them what you might be doing there on the mission trip thats fascinating. Give them a reason why its not inconvenient and how it wouldn't be dangerous to go.

  3. wow u sound like ur a great kid...yeah make a powerpoint and tell them how awesome it makes u feel to help ppl in need...i'm sure they will understand...i know if my kid wanted to do something like that i would be like wow way to go!!

  4. yeah tell 'em how much it means to u and all that sappy stuff just dont make 'em mad or that 'll be a big fat NO

    good luck

  5. They're worried about a four hour drive, but it's okay for you to go to Mexico?  Anyway, if PowerPoint helps you make the argument you need, then go for it!  I think it's great that you are so dedicated to helping others.  Would they be okay with you going on the bus if one of the group leaders promises to meet you at the other end?

  6. How about if you do a presentation  showing the pros and cons? Try getting your parents to understand how much you want to go and get them to see that it's for a really good cause.
