In the last hand Piazza played on Thursday night, a raise of 4,200 was witnessed from a competitor in the early position. Ronnie Bardah gave a long pause before he called the bet hesitantly in the cut-off. It was Piazza’s turn
on the small blind and threw in 14,300 chips from his huge pile of stakes, letting his opponents in deep thinking before taking any further step. Both of his opponents avoided the hand and folded to let Piazza take the pot. He threw his cards in the air with
sheer joy, revealing a seven and a two, reaching the top of the leaders’ board.

Only one contestant from the elite WPT Champions Club finished in the Top-10 after the end of Day 2. Winner of the Season IX’s Seminole Hard Rock Showdown in Florida, Taylor von Kriegenbergh, ended his day after taking the third
spot in the standings. He is still about 47,000 chips below Piazza on the leaders’ board but Kriegenbergh is anticipated to bag some huge piles of chips when the Day 3 of WPT Venice begins on Friday night.
