I have wanted to be an archaeologist since I was 8/9. I am a freshman and have lost my desire lately. Is there anything that I can do or read or watch to get my goals straight again?

  1. i agree with tyler totally, indiana jones is simply compelling or you can subscribe to the archaeology magazine which is great.i'm going to be a junior and am also interested in archaeology. =)

(maybe u could learn a new language to pass the time because archaeologists excavate in foreign contries, just a suggestion)

  2. any one of the movies called Indiana jones would make anyone want to be an archaeologist

  3. I wanted to be a vet when I was 8/9 and a cop when I was 13/14.   I became an archaeologist at 27. That was when my mom told me I had really wanted to be an archaeologist since I was 3 and started digging holes in the backyard for no good reason except to see what I could find.

So, your interests change as you get older. And sometimes you end up right back where you started-- only with bigger ideas in tow.

But, in all honesty, watch some archaeology tv or some documentaries online.  The History channel, TLC, and the Discovery Channel are loaded with archaeology these days and this website has lots of good free videos.

The idea of subscribing to Archaeology Magazine is good too. You could also go to the library and check out some books on ancient civilizations or go to a museum and see archaeological things.  If there is a college or museum near you that does archaeology, you could see if they take volunteers in the archaeology lab or on local digs.
