I'm planning my wedding and I want it to be fun. Guest come because of the reception. I plan on having the normal stuff, dancing, bouquet toss, garder toss, cake, dinner, all that, but I want something different then the average reception everyone has. Any fun ideas?? All answers would be great! I'd love to hear what you did, and your ideas!! Thanks a ton!!

  1. karaoke???? :)

Or do one of those surprise first dances like you see on you tube... start out slow dancing and then break into a choreographed dance to some pop song.

Or take dance lessons and do a rehearsed ballroom dance and impress your guests. :)

  2. I know of one wedding where, instead of the tradition bells or glass clinking for the couple to kiss, the table as a group was supposed to sign a song with the word "love" in it.  One table sang "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" ("all of the reindeer loved him"), which set the mood for the rest of the night, as tables competed for the most bizarre songs.

  3. We thought about doing a casino themed reception and have poker, black jack, etc. for everyone to play...but we decided against that because we wanted all the attention on us.  haha.  Look at the link below and it'll give you an idea of stuff for it...

  4. Play games, find something to give little prizes for throughout the reception.. basically do anything that includes your guests.

This may be really wierd but I was thinking that when I get married I would do a pool party/reception   like the pool after we do the typical reception   but me and my boyfriend are always having pool parties.

  5. Visit www.offbeatbride.com,

they have such a wealth of info!

  6. Have a themed wedding....tropical, winter, sports, 80's, 70's, 60's, patriotic, costumes, country, etc. Any would be fun and memorable.

  7. I read about a fancy dress wedding in the paper a couple of weeks ago! The bride and groom were Cinderella and Prince Charming of course, the brides father was Shrek (he had a mask and everything lol), the bridesmaids were fairies and I could see guests dressed as pirates and Ali G!

  8. contests, competitions, costumes.

We're planning a beach reception instead (none of our families are really dancers, so a DJ might be a waste of $$).  So that way we can chill out, lounge, go swimming, tubing, etc.

Maybe you find a "fun" venue.

Or maybe work a lot of traditions into your reception.

If you really want it to be a success I think the key is audience participation.  Cake eating contest, anyone?  Make it clear that you want to have FUN and not formality!

Maybe do a lot of group dances or offer prizes or something.

It sounds like you are having a wedding at/near home.  If though you are considering a destination wedding, resorts are always filled with activities, shopping nearby, etc.  Our destination wedding will be to Europe, so it will be a big group vacation and sightseeing thing.

    Have fun!

  9. Get a karoke machine, when people are don singing all guest vote for the 2 or 3 best and they can win little prizes.

    Do a hula hoop contest
