  1. Try avast. But you must remove other anti-virus before you install it.

It is a very effective and free anti-virus program.

  2. A good security solution is AVG please Download it here http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-F...

  3. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING FULLY:

View the review http://anti-virus-software-review.topten... if don't mind about cost.

If you want free you must keep AVG 8(other free anti virus don't give these many facilities) and spyware terminator[for real time protection.(don't get that toolbar offered to you.it is a waste.)].

  4. Before installing all kinds of things that will ultimately slow down your computer you may want to try a slightly different approach.

Set up an account with "limited access" and use that for all of your day-to-day activities such as web surfing, email, etc. The limited access account will be unable to modify anything within the system such as the registry, system files, etc.

When, and only when, you need to install a program or modify something in the system you can log out, then log back in as the admin. From there do whatever you need to do, then switch back to your limited user account.

Combine this with a simple, and free, virus scanner such as ClamWin (www.clamwin.com) and you've got yourself a complete free and highly-secure setup. Furthermore, your computer's performance won't suffer at all like it will with most other so-called security products.

To add new users simply use the User Accounts icon in the control panel. If on a Mac use "Accounts" in System Preferences.

A Virus and Spyware are not the same thing are you sure it was a Virus because an Anti Spyware program will not get rid of a Virus.

You have NOD32 and it let in a virus? WOW! NOD32 is supposed to be very good.  I use KASPERSKY INTERNET SECURITY and have never been infected by anything.  You also have to be very careful of what you download many people download their own problems.

If you do go for Kaspersky can you wait until monday, monday Kaspersky 2009 8.0 is supposed to come out and is one of the best.
