Want is the Best Sportsbike for a Big Dude?

Want is the Best Sports bike for someone who's 6' 3" and 300 pounds?

I travel to work from Tarrytown, NY to Battery Park Manhattan 5 or more days a week. I walk take a train and Subway, it can take 2 hours some days. If I was on a bike I was told it would only take 40 minutes. I could drive but park and traffic is a *****, so I reckon a bike is the job.

I'm 6' 9" and 350 lbs. I ride a suzuki RF600R. its great for taller riders because it's much more spread out than most sport bikes.

I would probably go for the RF900R (same bike with a 900cc engine). It's actually slower than the race-specced 600, but it has a lot more torque, which is helpful for us bigger riders.

The RF600R was the fastest sport bike out there until the gixxer took over for it- however, the gsxr is a bad bike for big guys.

I'm actually replacing the bike with a new bike, the bandit, and the Suzuki Bandit is a great bike for bigger guys. Not quite as roomy as the RF600R, but it has a 1250 cc fuel injected engine that works wonders, and it's been rated as one of the best bikes for the buck.

Yamaha FZ1 - awesome bike. Looks mean with no fairing and shares the engine with the R1.

I'll suggest a twin cylinder bike 650 or bigger. They have lots of torque that will handle your weight easily. Twins are also pretty good with gas mileage. I'm NOT a Suzuki fan but the SV's are very good bikes.

Of coarse there are the Italian bikes too. A Buell is not out of the question but they are a bit behind the times except for the new '08. And don't forget about the BMW's. Look for a bike that will fit all your needs, commuting, fun, etc.

If you look at the in-line 4 cylinder bikes be careful. They are deceivingly fast and agile. Even the 600's are more a full race bike than a street bike now. And the 1000's aren't for the faint of heart or unseasoned riders.

I would look at the Suzuki Hayabusa.  For a crotch rocket, it is a comfortable motorcycle and it has the power on hand.  Best of luck
