  1. not many caterers do parties for small groups.so far my family has been using this co Kate's catering.very easy to work with but have to order in advance coz when full house they won't take in anymore

  2. wow.. big family you have..

For catering, what's your budget like? You can try the following caterers, who will provide you with menus to match your headcount:

    1. Thomson catering

    2. Deli hub catering

However, since there are only immediate families involved, why not just order 4-5 large pizzas, get drinks from the supermarket and maybe toss a salad or make some jelly/pudding? You can get those 2-for-1 pizzas which cost about $30 for the large one. Multiply by that 3 (to get 6 pizzas) and you only spent $90 on food. Plus it's delivered to your doorstep. Throw in the birthday cake, that's quite a meal.

However, if you insist on cooking, you can try to make something that everyone eats easily, e.g. pasta. You can get 3-4 packets of pasta (should be enough for 20 people) from any supermarket, as well as ready-made pasta sauces. Just boil water, cook the pasta, and heat up the sauces following the instructions on the packaging and you got a main dish. After that, you can think about preparing a simple fruit or veggie salad, whichever is your preference. You can also prepare little cocktail bites, with cocktail sausages, pineapple chunks and cucumber. The combination is wicked. And if you still need more food, you can buy garlic spread and french loaf and add garlic bread to the menu. Or you can make simple ham and omelette finger sandwiches.

  3. Try Elsie's kitchen. Food is nice and affordable. My school uses it often for funcions with less than 50 people.

  4. The main advice I can give you and its from experience is to plan well and make everything look beautiful.  Presentation is everything.

If you prepare everything yourself make it ahead of time and make some extra to stash in the fridge to replenish.  Fruit and meat kabobs are easy to make. Deviled eggs are a favorite.  A big bowl of ice with boiled peeled shrimp and cocktail sauce is good.

Find out what your friends favorite foods are and pick 2 or 3. Barbecue is always easy to buy already cooked.

Best wishes for a great party.

  5. i found a long list of caterers in the Buying Guide of the Yellow Pages....much better than what i could find on the internet...and most of them have a website address that you can log into as well...

    hope that helps
