I would like to rent a car in Las Vegas and drive it to San Diego and back. Which companies will let me do this? Will there be an extra charge?

  1. As long as you have unlimited mileage on your rental, there will be no charge for taking it across state lines with the majority of the major brand car rental companies.  Because you are renting and returning the rental to the same city, it is not considered a one-way rental.

  2. I think all companies will let you do it.  What they won't let you do is take the car to Mexico.   We have done it a couple of times and never had any problems.  If they won't let you do it, they will tell you when you are renting it. There should be no extra charge as long as you get an unlimited mileage package.

  3. Most companies will allow you to do that, because CA is neighboring state, only a few unknown rentals may give you 100 miles per day limits, it is better to rent in a big name such as Hertz, enterprise, Avis...
