I have a Sony handycam dvd video recorder and Sony Vegas Movie studio 6.0 along with Sony DVD Architect Studio 3.0. I like to make family movies that I can give to my family with the Vegas movie studio. What I can't figure out how to do is import my clips from the dvd disc to vegas movie studio? Shouldn't I be able to do that instead of hooking everything up to the camera? I guess the camera saves/finalizes the files as IFO files. And then inside all that is BUP, VOB, SKF! Not one just simple mpeg! Can I change the way my camera saves these or can I save them another way in my computer so I can cut and edit clips? I'm making a video of my grandson of his 1st year for his parents as a gift on his birthday but I can't get any to import to my video program. help...

  1. If you have a mini dvd camcorder….

You will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer 's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files (i downloaded handbrake file converter free) and import them into your editing program. Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.
