Want to become a cop?

I don't have a record or a felony and i want to become a cop but i have stollen a lighter when i was like 9 or 10 when i was little i know everyone has made mastakes but they diden't call the cops they just told me not to come back but i did but diden't steel. I heard they give you a polygraph test i have never did any drugs exept a darvocet & tylanol #4 for my head aches i had surgery on my nose and i still have to take them. What kind of questions do they ask you on the polygraph test becuase i want to become a cop because i heard you can train when iam 19. I have no records i havent been to jail havent commited a felony. So should i be ok for the polygraph test and i wanted to know what questions they ask curious.

Stealing a lighter when you were 9 or 10 will not disqualify you with any police department that I know of. If you were prescribed pain medication, did not misuse or abuse it, and are not addicted to it, then that should not be an issue. Questions during a polygraph test may focus on any area that the department, background investigator, or polygraph examiner feels appropriate. Honesty is extremely important. For example, you may be asked questions to attempt to determine if you have stolen anything else that you have not admitted to. I am in a similar situation, I am 19 and going through all of the testing to become a deputy. The fact that you stole will not disqualify you, when they ask you be completely honest with them. If you lie, i guarantee you will not be hired. The drugs you describe sound like you had a prescription  so no worries there either. As long as you tell the truth you should be fine. Good Luck.
