  1. i need to know subs and or speakers he has...itrs hard to answer cause u have to know that to pick a amp out..i need the wattage of the subs,,,etc

  2. you could also buy him this amp http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9528... and tell him to figure it out. i think he will be very happy with this

  3. simple, what is it for- inside speakers or subwoofers

we need to know the model (number) of what he is trying to power to properly match an amp to them

info needed to match subs/speakers to an amp

    the number of subs/speakers

    the impedance (ohms)

the subs setup- DVC or SVC (dual or single voice coils)

    the RMS (continuous) wattage handling

also buy CEA-compliant brands- which means that the amp has been tested and produces or exceeds the advertised RMS wattage (continious wattage) with minimum distortion (the main caus of speaker damage)

    here are the CEA-compliant brands

    Alpine

    Bazooka

    Blaupunkt

    Clarion

    Eclipse

    Infinity

    JBL

    JL Audio

    JVC

    Kenwood

    Kicker

    MTX

    Pioneer

    Polk Audio

    PPI

    Rockford Fosgate

    Sony

if its for subs get a mono amp (1-channel) and if its for the inside speakers you want a multi-channel amp

here is a site where the prices are the lowest that you will find http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i22_c...

  4. i say get like a gift card.. and let him go.. or get the make and model of his car and ask..

  5. If it is an amp for subwoofers you will need a 2 channel amp (for 2 subs) if its just an amp for 1 sub get a mono (for 1 sub). and if it is for door speakers, get a 4 channel (for 4 speakers). or you could get a 5 channel amp, it has 4 channels for door speakers and another higher power channel for a subwoofer. more watts=louder, but it has to be watts RMS, not peak power, peak power means nothing. match the speaker(s) watts RMS with the amp's and go from there.
