Want to buy new Cooper, but am concerned about reliability. Is it worth buying?

I've been also been looking at the VW Rabbit and Honda Fit, but they just aren't grabbing me the way the Cooper is. I am worried about how much owning the Cooper will cost long term, once the car comes off free maintenance and warranty. I've heard horror stories from people who have had major issues with them. Are they really worth the hype?

No, these things are horrible. They don't hold up well at all.

if you buy a 07 - 09 you won't have to worry but avoid the older ones many small problems.
