I went through a period two years ago where I was working fulltime but simply not earning enough, and I got several charge-offs that can be seen on a credit check. Together they total around $1300, my current credit scores are transunion 644 Equifax 565 and Experian 673. My last late payment was well over a year ago.

I accept that I screwed up as I should have called my creditors and possibly worked something out until I had more money which I didn't do. I could pay the past balances off at this point although I understand that it will still show that it was a charge-off and will not improve my score, although it may help me if the casino does a thorough check of my credit.

Anyway, I'm hoping to find someone knowledgeable on here, if I go to Casino School do I have a chance at getting a job with this poor credit history? I'm currently working overseas but would like to come back and ideally find a job in Lake Tahoe, California. Is this possible? Thanks.

  1. more and more casinos are checking credit  of money handlers but if you are debt free a low credit score should not be a factor.  go for the job.debt free shows i screwed up ,i paid what i owed.

  2. Your credit isn't really that bad and most casinos aren't even going to check your credit. I used to have TRW Credentials, which was a service that monitored my credit. Any time someone did a credit check on me I was notified. Since I started dealing in 1996 (Las Vegas) only one casino actually checked my credit and it was a little dump that is now out of business.

Don't let a little bad credit stop you from trying to become a dealer.
