  1. i did the same thing as u, and now i'm trying to dispute it. there's companies that u can pay that do it for you, or you can go to myfreecredittips.com, and they tell u how u can do it yourself. under the fcra (fair credit reporting act), if the credit beaureu can't prove within 30 days that u made the charge, they can't use it as an affect on your credit report. i hope that helped & good luck!

  2. You can only dispute mistakes on your credit report.  You can't dispute correctly recorded financial mistakes.  If you could,everyone would do it and everyone would have perfect credit scores.

    The only way to get your score to go higher is to continue to pay your bills, and wait.  As time progresses, your earlier financial mistakes won't have as much of an impact as they do today.

    Now, if those mistakes from 4 to 5 years ago are errors (for example, the accounts did not belong to you), you can write to each of the credit bureaus to file a dispute.  If you got your credit report online, they'll have instructions.  You'll even be able to file your dispute online.  You'll have to provide a reason as to why you believe it's a mistake.

  3. You can only dispute known errors or debts that are beyond the reporting period and have been illegaly re-aged to appear on your credit report.

    As per the FCRA (§ 605. Requirements relating to information contained in consumer reports [15 U.S.C. §1681c]

    derogatory items stay on your record as follows:

    Unpaid Tax Lien - Indefinitely

    Chapter 7 Bankruptcies - 10 years from date filed.

    Public Records - 7 years from the date of payment;

    Closed or Inactive Accounts - 10 years from the date of last activity;

    Derogatory Accounts - 7 1/2 years from the date of original delinquency;

    If you dispute an item that the credit reporting agency deems as frivilous, they will flag your account.

    Avoid credit repair agencies that charge a fee to improve your FICO score by removing negative, but accurate, information from your credit reports. No one can force credit reporting agencies or lenders to remove accurate information from a credit report. Credit repair companies often take your money without delivering what they promise, or provide only temporary improvements of

    your score, sometimes by removing accurate information that will reappear later.
